|
Why she was
selected as the National Association of Cities,
Elected Official of the Year 2003: |
Judi is currently
serving her second term as Mayor of the City of
Jewett. During her tenure she has been
instrumental in securing two grants for the City
–a Wastewater Grant and a Building and Planning
Grant. In addition, she inherited a Water Grant
for an elevated storage tank and water lines
improvements. The elevated storage tank has been
erected. Water line improvements are just
beginning. All should be complete and in
operation within the next few months.
Judi is innovative and has a great imagination
for ways and means to bring advancements and
improvements to our small community. She has an
on-going beautification program wherein she has
encouraged many of our property owners to
cleanup or improve their property. She has held
fundraisers to help defray expenses for new
Christmas Decorations for the main thoroughfare
through Jewett. She has constructed and planted
a town square and has sought the assistance of
Nucor Steel to furnish a dual purpose flag pole.
This pole will be used to carry the United
States Flag during most of the year; however, at
Christmas it will be the Railroad to be cleaned
up and converted to a park where local residents
and those passing through Jewett may stop and
rest. This property is quite grown up. It is
planned to push much of the overgrown brush and
some of the trees to provide areas for tables
and benches. |
