Insurance Tips
After A Disaster
- Damage to a home from fallen
trees is usually covered.
- Most policies will pay to
have trees removed from structures but not from the yard.
- Most policies cover damages
to appliances from a power surge when power is restored to a
home.
- Damages to parked vehicles
from fallen trees are covered under most automobile
insurance policies.
-
Adjusters are
required to properly identify themselves.
-
Adjusters are
not allowed to personally buy salvage from claimants.
-
Adjusters are
not permitted to accept gratuities.
-
Claimants are
not required to use the contractor the insurance company
might recommend.
-
The Consumer
Services Division of the Department of Insurance is
available to assist claimants with coverage questions at
1-800-546-5664.
